A unique exhibition dedicated to the Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War opened in the Art Gallery of the City Museum on April 20. The exhibition is held with the financial support of Severneftegazprom. The gas company is a longtime friend and partner of the city museum. Employees of the company took part in the grand opening of the exhibition.

Andrey Shemyakov, a representative of the labor team of OJSC Severneftegazprom, noted that Victory Day is a special, truly national holiday. It contains a piece of the personal history of every family and every Soviet person.

The «Arctic on Fire» exhibition is a unique project. Numerous testimonies of the events of those terrible years are presented today in the halls of the Novy Urengoy Museum. It is very important to tell the younger generation about the great feat and sacrifice of our people. Young people should know the truth, be aware of their involvement in great historical events, remember and be proud of the feat of their great-grandfathers.

On Saturday, Aleksey Matveev, the director of the museum and the ideological author of the exhibition, held a corporate tour for the company's employees and their families. For a long time it was believed that there was no war in the north. Alexey Matveev claims that this is not entirely true. In 2015, he took part in the Kara Expeditions project and worked as part of a search team on Bely Island in the Kara Sea. Then a military burial of members of the BD-5 convoy who died in 1944 was discovered. The theme of the convoy was repeatedly presented by members of the Kara expeditions in Salekhard, St. Petersburg and other cities of Russia. Now, thanks to the friends and partners of the project, the residents of Novy Urengoy have such an opportunity.
