HISTORY

1969

The Yuzhno-Russkoye field is discovered during the Urengoy oil-and-gas exploration expedition. The expedition team was drilling prospecting well № 6 on November 17, 1969, when it pierced Cenomanian deposits that produced a gas gusher.

1979

Cenomanian and Cenonian deposits at the Yuzhno-Russkoye field were first estimated and confirmed by the USSR State Committee for Mineral Reserves. Detailed seismic work focused on the field’s Lower Cretaceous and Jurassic deposits. According to the well testing, a conclusion on the promising prospects of Lower Cretaceous and Jurassic deposits development received.

1990

The second phase of prospecting and exploratory drilling is undertaken at the Yuzhno-Russkoye field.

1993-1994

The Yuzhno-Russkoye field reserves were estimated and its positive outlook was confirmed.

1998
