News about sports events

February 14, 2016, in Novy Urengoy city, on the banks of the river Sede-Yaha, a mass ski race “Ski Track of Russia 2016” took place. The purpose of the event is the promotion of physical culture and sports among the population and the development of winter sports.

Every year in Novy Urengoy more and more athletes and those who just love skiing take part in these competitions what’s gradually becoming a good tradition for them. In 2016, several distances from 500 m to 10 km in different age categories were opened for the participants.

6 employees of OJSC Severneftegazprom also took part in the race, which is the biggest sporting event with regards to the number of participants and geographical coverage of our country’s population.

Alexander Fominichev, an engineer of software implementation and maintenance of OJSC Severneftegazprom, showed splendid results – 13 minutes 40 seconds, and won the 1st prize for the 5 km distance among men aged from 18 to 39 years.

“The track was good, the weather was excellent, the rivals were worthy”, says Alexander Fominichev. “I’ve been skiing since 2013 and I consider it necessary to take part in competitions that promote a healthy lifestyle. This victory for me is an honorable award and a great incentive to continue my trainings”.

          Background:

         “Ski Track of Russia 2016” has been held annually since 1982 and it is always a grand sports event. This bright, large-scale winter competition has a glorious history with the participation of legendary skiers and achievements that embrace different generations.

          February 14, 2016, this event captured 72 regions of the Russian Federation with more than 600 000 participants – professional athletes, Olympic champions, sport veterans, prominent politics and public persons of Russia.
