OJSC Severneftegazprom - the experience of Russia and Europe for the benefit of people

OJSC Severneftegazprom is a young, dynamically developing company, one of the five largest gas suppliers of Gazprom Group. The joint-stock company is an example of successful international cooperation in the field of gas production, combining promising Russian and foreign experience both in the field of gas production and in corporate governance.

OJSC Severneftegazprom was founded in June 2001 to develop the Yuzhno-Russkoye field, one of the largest oil and gas condensate fields in Russia, located in the Krasnoselkupsky district of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District.

The development of Yuzhno-Russkogo is an international project in which three of the world's leading concerns are participating: OAO Gazprom, as well as German companies BASF SE (Wintershal Holding GmbH) and E.ON AG (E.ON Exploration and Production GmbH). Each of the participants contributes to the joint work, as a result of which Gazprom’s experience gained in the development of fields in the Far North and permafrost is complemented by foreign experience: technical developments and innovations.

The Yuzhno-Russkoye field was commissioned in December 2007, and already in 2009, one year ahead of the plan compared to the plan, it was brought to design capacity with gas production in the amount of 25 billion cubic meters per year. In 2011, the $ 75 billion was produced, and in May 2012, the $ 100 billion cubic meter of gas from the start of field development.

INNOVATIVE APPROACH

Until recently, OJSC Severneftegazprom mined exclusively from the Cenomanian deposit. However, in early 2012, as a result of the successful implementation of a project for the pilot development of Turonian deposits, the company — the first in Russia — was able to produce “Turonian gas” and submit it to the Unified Gas Transit System of Russia.

Until now, nobody has been able to do this. The fact is that the Turonian deposits belong to the category of hard-to-recover reserves. They are distinguished from the Cenomanian by abnormally high reservoir pressure, tens of times worse permeability and gas recovery of the reservoir, complex temperature and pressure conditions, heterogeneity and facial variability of reservoirs. Development of a turon using traditional (for cenoman) vertical wells is inexpedient. Here an innovative approach was needed.

Together with leading Russian and Western specialists, the company developed and applied innovative technological solutions - it produced a unique two-hole subhorizontal well with a gentle ending, allowing it to operate two Turonian formations simultaneously and independently of each other. Today the well is working in experimental mode, its flow rate exceeds the design level of 200 thousand cubic meters. m per day. In 2012, gas production from the Turonian well amounted to about 56 million cubic meters. In case of further successful implementation of the project, OJSC Severneftegazprom expects a potential increase in annual gas production by five to eight billion cubic meters.

“It’s a well-known fact that the existing gas fields are gradually being depleted and that more and more efforts are needed to extract promising gas resources,” said Stanislav Tsygankov, General Director of OJSC Severneftegazprom. “Today, in our opinion, only the search for new methods to increase gas recovery, the development of new technologies will help both the global and Russian energy sector to be more efficient.

STRATEGY OF INNOVATION DEVELOPMENT

Focusing on improving the efficiency of the company's production, environmental friendliness and safety of production, OJSC Severneftegazprom pays great attention to the introduction of modern advances in engineering and technology and their skilled operation at the stage of development and development of the Yuzhno-Russkoye field. To achieve its goals, the company modernizes existing facilities, optimizes technological processes, introduces the latest equipment, brings production facilities in line with modern industrial safety standards.

In addition, OJSC Severneftegazprom contributes to the development of inventive and rationalization activities, technical and engineering progress. The company is guided in its work by the Strategy for Technological and Innovative Development, which provides for the implementation of a whole range of programs. They allow you to stimulate creative, scientific, technical and innovative activities, which contributes to a more efficient development of the Yuzhno-Russkoye oil and gas condensate field with the minimization of environmental risks and the maximum reduction of environmental impact.

To improve the energy efficiency of a single chain of technological processes of extraction, transportation, processing, storage and distribution of natural gas at all stages of operation within the framework of research and development work, OAO Severneftegazprom developed and patented an innovative Gas Process Loss Management System after dry gas-dynamic seals of gas pumping units-16DKS-09 “Ural” at the South-Russian oil and gas condensate field.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

Implementing large-scale and promising projects, fulfilling the planned tasks of developing the field, OJSC Severneftegazprom takes a responsible approach to the protection of the environment of the territories in which the company carries out its production and economic activities. All work is carried out taking into account the requirements of the environmental policy of Gazprom, federal and regional regulations of the Russian Federation, international standards in the field of environmental safety and environmental management.

The company has implemented an environmental monitoring program that allows it to obtain objective information about sources of harmful emissions, to monitor and develop effective environmental protection measures.

One of the priorities is to maintain a balance between production and preservation of the environment in its original form. Thus, the company is currently implementing a project to introduce an innovative plant for the disposal of industrial effluents, and is also preparing to implement a project for the disposal of flue gases from gas pumping plants, which provides for the generation of electricity from the heat of exhaust gases. Its implementation will be able to make a significant contribution to environmental protection.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

As a socially responsible company, OJSC Severneftegazprom seeks for mutually beneficial cooperation with the municipalities in whose territories it carries out its production activities - these are Krasnoselkupsky, Purovsky districts and the city of Novy Urengoy of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, the land of the original aboriginal peoples of the Russian North.

The company regularly holds events aimed at the socio-economic development of these territories, provides significant support to traditional branches of agriculture, provides grants to teachers and students of educational institutions, pays for student tuition in universities, provides assistance to sports and religious institutions, provides financial resources for the implementation of statutory activities Association of Indigenous Peoples of the North "Yamal - descendants!".

For all the years of production in the regions of presence of OJSC Severneftegazprom, assistance was provided for more than 236 million rubles.

PROSPECTS

OJSC Severneftegazprom is a progressive enterprise that uses optimal technical solutions to increase the efficiency of its production, energy conservation and environmental protection. Until 2020, the company plans to put into operation the second stage of the booster compressor shop No. 1, to expand the boundaries of the license area. Each production achievement of OJSC Severneftegazprom is an effective contribution to the present and tomorrow of the gas industry in Russia.
