The Yuzhno-Russkoye oil and gas condensate field (hereinafter - YRNGKM), put into commercial operation in 2007, is the main production base of OJSC Severneftegazprom. Located in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, the field is one of Russia's largest reserves in terms of reserves: their total volume exceeds 1 trillion m³ of gas and more than 40 million tons of oil and gas condensate.
Yuzhno-Russkoye was brought to design capacity with gas production in the amount of 25 billion m³ per year, ahead of the project in 2009, and on May 17 of this year, one hundredth billion cubic meters of gas was produced.
“100 billion m³ of gas is an indicator of the stability and efficiency of the activity of OJSC Severneftegazprom. The achieved result was made possible thanks to the use of the latest gas production technologies, professional work of the team, support from shareholders and partners, ”said Stanislav Tsygankov, General Director of OJSC Severneftegazprom.
In addition to producing gas from the Cenomanian deposit, in 2010 the company was the first in Russia to begin implementing a unique project to develop the Turonian gas deposits. These deposits are classified as hard-to-recover.
Despite the fact that only in Western Siberia, the total reserves of Turon are estimated at about 3 trillion m³, gas companies only recently began to develop these deposits. The complexity of gas production from them is that the use of traditional development methods due to geological and technological features is impossible. Specialists of OJSC Severneftegazprom, in collaboration with Russian and foreign companies (TyumenNIIgiprogaz LLC, Gazprom Burenie LLC, Halliburton, and others) developed a completely new design of a well with a flat end and a unique dual-flow rebar. Turonian horizons (see figure).
The potential and economic significance of the development of Turon is great, not only for Gazprom Group, but also for the gas industry as a whole: industry, which involves the development of deposits in extremely complex geological, mining and natural and climatic conditions. The industry is faced with the task of efficient and rational development of hard-to-recover gas reserves. To solve it, it will be necessary to use all the available scientific and technical potential, to create and introduce new technologies and equipment. In this sense, commissioning of the Turonian deposits of OJSC Severneftegazprom into pilot production is very timely and is one of the first steps towards large-scale development of hard-to-recover gas reserves in our country, ”explains Stanislav Tsygankov.
The development of the Turon, among other things, will significantly increase the resource base, increase the annual gas production in the future. For OJSC Severneftegazprom, the increase in production from the Turonian deposits may amount to 5-8 billion m³ per year.
According to the project for the development of the Yuzhno-Russkoye field, it was initially assumed that the large-scale development of the Turonian deposits should start no earlier than 2023–2025. However, the extension of the maximum gas production time of 25 billion m³, the so-called "shelf" of production, forced the company to begin searching for solutions for the development and development of Turonian deposits much earlier. In addition, the Yuzhno-Russkoye field is one of the main resource bases of the Nord Stream gas pipeline, and the development of the Turonian gas reservoir will not only ensure new volumes of gas supplies in the future, but also guarantee the stability of the blue fuel to Europe.
The high rates of project implementation are to a large extent due to the introduction of innovative technologies and the latest equipment. Despite this, OJSC Severneftegazprom continues to look for new technologies and production solutions that will bring not only an economic, but also an environmental effect. The latest projects in this area were the development of a specialized plant for the treatment of industrial effluents, the search for solutions for the utilization of flue gases of a booster compressor station - the production of electricity based on them. Wintershall Holding GmbH and E.ON Exploration and Production GmbH are subsidiaries of the German companies BASF SE and E.ON AG also contribute to technological development.
OJSC Severneftegazprom today plays a prominent role in the Russian gas market and is recognized as one of the most successful examples of Gazprom’s international cooperation in the field of gas production.
OJSC Severneftegazprom is one of the leading gas producing companies of the Gazprom Group with annual gas production in excess of 25 billion m³. The company, founded in 2001, has achieved high production rates in 11 years. 2012 was marked by a number of achievements: in April, the launch ceremony of the first production well of the Turonian gas reservoir took place, and in May, the symbolic mark of 100 billion m³ of cumulative gas production was reached. The company participates in a number of social and charitable projects, provides comprehensive support to the regions of its presence - the Krasnoselkupsky and Purovsky districts of the YNAO, the city of Novy Urengoy. In 2012 alone, Severneftegazprom will allocate over 50 million rubles for their support.
